How does the Perioscope work?

The Perioscope features fiberoptic technology that enables the clinician to view and effectively treat areas below the gum line, without surgery. A miniature camera, attached to a tiny probe is placed below the gum line and an image, magnified 48x, is immediately displayed on a chair side video screen. This visibility allows for the most effective removal of bacteria below the gums.

How long does it take? Does it hurt?
