Antimicrobial Agents (Topical Antibiotics)
- Arestin
- Periochip
- Atridox
- Actisite
Arestin, Periochip, Atridox and Actisite are topical, prescription antibiotics used in conjunction with a deep cleaning procedure called scaling and root planing. The antibiotics are placed below the gum line and gradually released into the infected site.
Although they can be beneficial, these agents don't yet have general and broad indication.
Therefore, use of topical antibiotics is indicated in only limited, site specific situations.
